'SeeChange' Screenings at Gulbai Tekra

In an endeavour to reach out to the most marginalised Bawre community, DraftCraft has been screening documentaries and inspirational movies as part of its SeeChange series of StopWatch INSIDE Gulbai Tekra loosely called 'Hollywood' by prudish upper-caste community members, in Ahmedabad, right within their homes.
Complete with a make-shift screen created from a white chaddar and seating as simple as on a stone floor, each screening is viewed with unbridled excitement by around 20 women and children crammed in the 10 ft by 7 ft room. True happiness comes at a cost - a little inconvenience. Concurrently, the price WE pay for comfort is way too high.

DraftCraft's 'Go Ganesha!' Screenings @ Gulbai Tekra

The 'StopWatch' Shows held immediately after Ganesh Visarjans, in local mandirs and at a nearby Rain Basera (night shelter) helped, as usual, to boost the camaraderie so symbolic of the Bawres who gather in hundreds each time we put up a white chaddar to double up as a make-shift screen or focus our projections of their works on a dimly-lit wall of a hut to showcase images of their creations. Ahmedabad's very own Bohemian commune residing at Gulbai Tekra aka 'Hollywood' make the most spectacular Ganesha idols. Join us as we document them in DraftCraft's 'Love, Life, Law' series.
